Marinens Flyvebaatfabrikk

Marinens Flyvebaatfabrikk - The Navy's Flying Boat Factory - was the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service' aeroplane producer. It was established in Horten in 1915.

It produced a total of 120 planes from 1915 to 1940.

The types of planes produced may be divided into the following categories.

• Aircraft trainers
• Reconnaissance planes
• Torpedo planes
• Fighter aircraft

Bomber planes were not a priority as they were deemed an aggressor's weapon and not fit for a neutral country.

• M.F.1 (Marinens Flyvebaatfabrikk type 1) Maurice Farman Hydroaeroplan, type 1914. 6 built.
• M.F.2 Could carry two 50 kg minebombs, radio and machine gun.
• M.F.3 Carried out the first RNoN aircraft test with torpedoes.
• M.F.4 First purpose-built trainer aircraft.

• 7 Douglas DT-2B/C built on licence.
• Hansa Brandenburg "Make" built on licence based on the Hansa Brandenburg W.33

  • 11 Make III built at Kjeller Flyfabrikk and known as Kjeller F.F.8 "Make" III.
